For those who don’t have much experience in drawing animals, especially cats, I cannot emphasize enough how important it is that you first use an ordinary graphite pencil and eraser. Doing so will save you from a lot of frustration and reduce the time required for drawing a basic cat form.

On the left drawing you can see how to start Zen doodles by drawing a spiral over the entire thigh of a cat that’s stretching. This isn’t an ordinary spiral, it’s a Zen spiral and you can’t draw it in one move.
